Moldova to ask Gazprom to postpone payment deadline to February

CHISINAU, Jan 12 (PRIME) – Moldova’s emergencies commission has ordered Moldovagaz to ask Gazprom for postponement of the payment deadline until the end of January, the government said in a statement on Wednesday.

"We have discussed the situation on the natural gas market and the risks for Moldovan consumers at a meeting of the emergencies commission,” the statement read.

“After the meeting, the members of the commission decided that Moldovagaz will initiate discussion in its supervisory board of the possibility to postpone the date of payment until the end of January 2022."

Moldovagaz's board plans to meet on January 17. The company said earlier that in case of a lack of agreement with Gazprom, supplies could stop.
